The Binevenagh and Coastal Lowlands Landscape Partnership and Roe Valley Ancestral Researchers are delighted to announce the publication of a new book ‘Myths & Legends: Tales From Around Binevenagh’ which was generously funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Written by members of the Limavady & Ballykelly Writers Group and beautifully illustrated by Michelle McGarvey, ‘Myths and Legends: Tales from Around Binevenagh’ brings to life the Binevenagh area through stories, poems and music which explore industry, farming, historic events, myths, and the landscape.

The book was launched on Thursday 17th November at the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Limavady.

In attendance were Kathleen McGurk (Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Deputy Mayor) and Jim McGreevy (National Lottery Heritage Fund Committee Member).

Jim McGreevy, Committee Member at The National Lottery Heritage Fund said:

“We are excited to support Binevenagh Landscape Partnership in collecting stories involving the people and places across the history of the area, thanks to money raised by National Lottery players. This project will help to safeguard this important local heritage, and provide opportunities for people to explore the past and create stories for the future.”

The Binevenagh and Coastal Lowlands Project Manager Andrew Bratton said that “he hoped the book encouraged others to record and share with future generation’s their own stories and tales which have been inspired by the special landscape and history of the Binevenagh area”
