Alitkeeragh Bog Science – Fieldwork and data collection

October 30, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Help us with essential data collection and ecological survey work for the restoration work on Alitkeeragh Bog.

We need your help with practical data collection on Alitkeeragh Bog. This data will feed into the creation of a restoration plan for the site.

The fieldwork involves bog mapping and peat depth measurements. All equipment will be provided and training will be provided by staff from Queens University at the beginning of the session.

This work requires a good level of fitness as the terrain is rough, wet and can make walking difficult. Due to the nature of the work and the habitat type, this event is not recommended for children.

Please wear wellies/boots, and bring warm and waterproof clothing. A drink and a snack is recommended as fieldwork in boggy terrain can work up an appetite!

There are 2 sessions to choose from:

9:00-12:00

13:00-16:00

The meeting point for each session will be Ballyhackett Viewpoint where parking is available.

Please REGISTER HERE for this event, and if you have any questions, please contact Aisling@ccght.org
