Seventh Économusée launch in N.Ireland

Saturday 30th March 2019 saw the launch of the seventh Économusée artisan workshop in the Causeway Coast and Glens by local celebrity chef and presenter Paula McIntyre.

North Coast Smokehouse in Ballycastle joins the elite network of food and craft artisans who open their doors to visitors and tourists to share the story of their journey and acquired knowledge, skill and passion.  

North Coast Smokehouse is a family run specialist artisan smokehouse producing all-natural smoked food products under our own brand for the hospitality, retail and online markets which are both domestic and international.

Proprietors Ruairidh Morrison and Melanie Brown established the business in 2013 by producing hot-smoked salmon at markets, for customers to eat there and then. Almost everyone who tried it loved it! As market research, the approach worked very well and provided the confidence needed to proceed. A year later the couple had secured premises, fitted it out, complied with all the necessary regulations and were finally able to offer packaged ready-to-eat smoke-roasted salmon!

Since then Ruairidh and Melanie have added smoked sea-salt, pepper, and a local delicacy—dulse seaweed, to the product range, and secured numerous hospitality and retail clients.
