The renowned nine Glens of Antrim are set to benefit from a £1.8million cash injection from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Landscape Partnership Scheme.
The Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage Trust, based in Armoy, is the delivery body responsible for the development phase of this Heart of the Glens project.
A series of community workshop evenings has been organized throughout the Glens giving local people the opportunity to share their ideas about potential landscape, heritage, community, skills, access and tourism projects that will benefit the entire Glens region.
These workshops will be taking place in the following venues:
• Thyme and Co Café, Ballycastle on Monday 14th May at 7pm
• Cushendall Development Offices, Cushendall on Tuesday 15th May at 7pm
• The Londonderry Arms Hotel, Carnlough on Thursday 17th May at 7pm
• Houston’s Mill, Broughshane on Monday 21st May at 7pm
Commenting on the development phase of the project, Sarah Irwin, LPS Manager said: ‘I anticipate a good turnout of local people at the workshops because I recognize the passion that the Glens people have for their area and they will value the exciting opportunities and the huge economic and environmental impact that this scheme can deliver to the Glens of Antrim.’
