The Binevenagh Landscape Partnership needs your help to plant 1500 native trees in a new wet woodland on the banks of the Curly Burn river.

The Binevenagh and Coastal Lowlands Landscape Partnership Scheme needs plenty of helping hands to plant 1500 native trees on approximately 0.5ha of new wet woodland on the banks of the Curly Burn river, a tributary of the river Roe, just outside Limavady. With help from the landowner, in summer 2022 the wet woodland was created by making a series of ponds and ditches to channel water from the surrounding farmland into this already wet and low lying area. This new feature in the landscape now needs planted with native trees to create new wildlife habitat, and to help improve the water quality flowing into the Curly Burn.

Meeting time and location

Meeting time is 9.30am sharp at the lower entrance to Drenagh Estate where the Bolea and Dowland road meet. See link below for google maps street view. The wet woodland site is a short walk from the meeting point. We aim to be finished by 3pm at the latest, and should anyone need to leave early there will be no issue.

What to bring

Be prepared for November weather! Wear warm layers and a waterproof coat and trousers. Bring warm and dry clothing for afterwards. Wear wellies or study boots, and if you have you own gardening gloves, please do bring them along.
Tea, coffee and some sweet treats will be provided, but please bring your own packed lunch and any other drinks and snacks you require.
Some spades and equipment will be available, but if you have your own favorite gardening spade, do bring it along.
