The Causeway Coast and Glens has had a long relationship with human life with the Lower Bann area being home to the oldest known settlement in Ireland (see Mesolithic Mountsandel) from around 10,000 years ago (see prehistory section). Following this it has been fashioned by many events from Christianity (see early history section) and Viking raids to the Norman influence (see medieval history) and Plantation (see modern history). All these events have contributed to the unique and diverse culture of the Causeway Coast and Glens (see cultural heritage section).
