Ever picked blackberrys, gathered goosberries or harvested strawberries?
Well that was just one of the Saturday morning events Nikki ran with Ben Simon, Ballymena’s Local Biodiversity Officer, at ecos in Ballymena. Forage Ireland helped steer the group towards the safe and tasty finds readily available in Northern Ireland such as Wild Garlic and young nettle leaves.
On other weekends we found fish while pond dipping, heard beautiful birdsong and discovered all sorts of creepy crawlies on our mini-beast hunt. These events were organised as part of a larger NGO Challange Fund Project Nikki and Ben were running at ecos.
