‘Biodiversity of Course’ event at Castlerock Beach, Sat 29th June 2019.

A lot of fun and exciting discoveries were had at CCGHT’s ‘Biodiversity of Course’ event last week. An interested and enthusiastic group (young and old!) joined guide Nathan to learn more about the rich biodiversity of their local sand dunes. It was a busy morning, hunting for colourful coastal butterflies, bumblebees and wildflowers before a gentle walk along Castlerock beach.

Nathan and the group managed to spot four different types of orchids, white tailed bumblebees, meadow pipits, swifts and much more!

All throughout Summer 2019 CCGHT and partners will be hosting and delivering a wide range of exciting events, catering for a variety of interests.

For example, on Saturday 3rd August you can join CCGHT and Portballintrae’s Coast Office on a Kayak Safari along the Causeway Coast. This event allows participants to take in the wildlife, geology and history of the area while enjoying spectacular views of the magnificent Causeway Coast.

Or, on Saturday 17th August, enjoy a fascinating archaeological tour with local archaeologist Thomas McErlean. Discover the fascinating history of key Ballycastle sites including Bonamargy Friary and along the North Antrim coast to Dunseverick Castle.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday 28th August, join us for some family fun on a bat talk and walk. Uncover the exciting nocturnal world of bats, their amazing acrobatics and learn more about what action we can take to protect them.
