The Causeway Coast and Glens is home to some of the most geological diverse landscapes in the world. Due to this wonderful foundation several designations are used to help protect and preserve our special landscapes. With so many designations, titles and abbreviations relating to the land and landscape at the Giant’s Causeway and surrounding areas it can be confusing to what they mean, their purpose and what affect they have on a visitor, researcher or landowner.
The World Heritage Site Steering Group took the step last year to commission the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland to compile key, useful, information relating to these designations and outline what it means for the public and landowners. This has now been published as an A5 booklet and is available from the Causeway Coast and Glens heritage Trust.
