This year Causeway Coast and Glens Heritage Trust is 20 years old.  During the year the Board of the Trust will be revisiting its values, aims and objectives with the intention of relaunching the Trust in Autumn 2022.

The Trust is looking to refresh its management and governance structures and is inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced and committed individuals to join the Board of the Trust.  In 2023 the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair of the Trust will become vacant; these positions will be appointed from within the membership of the Board

The Trust, which operates throughout the Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid and East Antrim council areas, has directly invested £8.5m into the area over the past two decades and is looking to develop plans for further investment.

CEO Graham Thompson commented:

“Thanks to the support of local councils, the Department of Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs, Tourism Northern Ireland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund we have been able to channel millions of pounds of investment into the area.  This has allowed us to manage two major Landscape Partnership Schemes at Binevenagh and in the Glens, oversee the protection and promotion of the Causeway World Heritage Site and the 3 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, support sustainable tourism including the development of the Economusée network, provide new access opportunities and boost the biodiversity of the area.”

Trust Chairman Graham Seymour commented:

“As well as continuing our vital work we have exciting plans for the future. This includes a new UNESCO Global Geopark in County Antrim, a Biosphere Reserve at Binevenagh and a new major project on the Lower Bann.  To help us move forward we are looking to inject experience and expertise into the Board of our organisation.  We are of course looking for people with experience in landscape and environmental management and sustainable tourism but also need people with experience of managing some of the vital components of our landscape – our farms and forests.”

Graham Seymour went on to say:

“As well as being a conservation charity we are also a company limited by guarantee.  We need Board members from a business background with experience in finance, human resources, PR and communications, project management and fundraising. Above all we are looking for people who have a real passion for what is one of the most special places in these islands”

The Trust would particularly welcome applicants with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Landscape management
  • Environmental management and biodiversity
  • Farming and forestry management
  • Access and recreation
  • Tourism management
  • Fundraising
  • Business management including:
    • Marketing
    • Human Resource management
    • Project Management
    • Finance
    • Corporate Governance
  • Community engagement and leadership

Appointments will be made to ensure that the Board possesses as wide a range of experience and competences as possible.

The Trust is inviting applications by Friday 4th March 2022.  Applicants are invited to submit a CV and a supporting statement and complete an Equal Opportunities Questionnaire.  All necessary information can be found below:
